Seton Hill began PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon with a conference matchup at Indiana (PA).
The Griffins scored the opening touchdown of the contest but IUP answered with 35 straight points as they defeated the Griffins by the score of 35-7. Â
Both of the teams offenses could not get much going in the first quarter of action. The only scoring in the quarter was a 45 yard punt return from
Demetri Whitehead which gave the Griffins a 7-0 lead with 4:09 left in the quarter. Â
Early in the second quarter, the Crimson Hawks tied the contest at seven. They used a 19 yard passing touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 with 13:10 left in the second quarter. After a three and out, Whitehead ended the next IUP possession with an interception that gave the Griffins the ball at their own 30 yard line. IUP took their first lead of the contest late in the second quarter. The Crimson Hawks connected on a 29 yard touchdown pass to take a 14-7 lead with 40 seconds to play in the half. Â
Neither team was able to find the endzone in the third quarter of play. The Crimson Hawks scored a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter, using an 11 yard touchdown run to take a 21-7 lead over the Griffins. IUP then took advantage of a SHU fumble to increase their lead to 28-7 with a 7 yard TD pass with 13:06 left. Another Griffin fumble led to another IUP touchdown. The Crimson Hawks connected on a 32 yard touchdown pass to take a 35-7 lead with 11:28 left. Â
Da'Shaun Williams rushed for 79 yards.Â
Lucas Simone had 11 tackles.Â
Jacob Grimes added 10 tackles. Â
