Box Score The Griffin football team dropped its sixth straight contest to open the season after falling to Charleston on the road on Saturday afternoon. Charleston was able to pull away in the second half for a 30-13 victory. With the loss, the Griffins fall to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in WVIAC play.
Charleston jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the first quarter on a 46 yard field goal and a 61 yard touchdown run. Charleston added a safety early in the second quarter to extend the lead to 12-0.
Lance Williams pulled in a 6 yard reception from Andrew Jackson to cut the lead to 12-6 with 6:11 to play in the second. Charleston added a late score with 10 seconds to play in the half and entered the break with a 19-6 lead.
Trae Cook scored on a run from 2 yards out early in the third quarter to cut the lead back to 19-13. That was the only scoring in the third quarter and Charleston added a touchdown and a field goal in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
Andrew Jackson was 26-50 for 240 yards and 1 touchdown.
Trae Cook finished with 26 yards on 7 carries and 1 touchdown.
Niko Hall-Brown and
DJ Carter each had 7 receptions in the contest with Hall-Brown having 100 receiving yards and Carter 91 yards.
Josh Falatovich had 17 tackles for the Griffin defense.
Seton Hill will host Concord next Saturday afternoon at noon.
