Seton Hill kicked off the 2026 season at home by hosting #10 Lewis on Saturday afternoon in Greensburg.
The Griffins used a 5-0 second quarter as they defeated the Flyers by the score of 11-7 in the season opener.
Lewis opened the scoring a little over two minutes into the contest. The Griffins responded with a pair of goals in three minutes to take a 2-1 lead.
Michael Coleman and
Dexter Hannigan scored the SHU goals. Lewis scored the final two of the first quarter and led 3-2 after one.
The second quarter was all Seton Hill as they scored all five goals. Hannigan scored the first two as the Griffins took a 4-3 lead with 12:36 left in the half.
Kaden Granberg,
Nate Herbster and
Andrew Mathieu scored in a three minute stretch as the Griffins led 7-3 at the halftime break.
The Flyers scored the opener in the third but Hannigan and Herbster scored back to back goals and the Griffins led 9-4 with 9:47 left to play. Hannigan closed out the third quarter scoring as SHU led 10-5 heading to the fourth.
Herster scored the lone SHU goal of the fourth period.
Hannigan led the Griffins with five goals. Herbster added three goals and an assist. Granberg scored a goal and added two assists.
Will Cody recorded 12 saves in the win.
SHU will host Chestnut Hill next Saturday in the battle of the Griffins.
