Griffins Earn Senior Day Split with the Rock

Seton Hill began a four game PSAC West set on Thursday afternoon as they Slippery Rock on Senior Day on the Hill.  

The Rock held the Griffins to just two hits in a 3-0 game one loss.  SHU responded with a 2-1 come from behind win in game two to split the doubleheader.  SHU is now 33-13 overall and 19-7 in the west.  The Rock is 31-16 and 16-10 in the west.  

Slippery Rock took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning when they scored the pair on four hits.  The Rock added an insurance run in the top of the seventh after a leadoff walk.

Max Mandler had a double for the Griffins.  

Slippery Rock used back to back doubles to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in game two of the doubleheader.  

The Griffins took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.  With one out, Max Mandler reached on an infield single. Joe Fiedor pinch ran for Mandler and Michael Gregos followed with a walk to put two runners on.  Austyn Winkleblech pinch ran for Gregos.  After a fly out, the runners stole second and third.  Owen Henne then came thru with a huge two out, two RBI single on a 2-2 pitch to give the Griffins a 2-1 lead.  

Luke Deschenes worked two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.  Evan Rossi threw two scoreless innings to earn the save.  Rossi struck out three.  

The Griffins will travel to Slippery Rock to close out the regular season with a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
