The Griffins traveled to North Canton, OH for a G-MAC contest against the Walsh on Tuesday afternoon.
Seton Hill used a 9-2 third quarter to pull away for a 25-11 victory over the Cavs. SHU is now 15-1 overall and 9-0 in the G-MAC. Â
SHU took a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the contest behind a goal from
Nate Herbster and a pair from
Connor Zostant. Walsh answered with a pair of goals in 34 seconds to cut the lead to 3-2 with 9:40 to play.Â
Carter Green pushed the lead to 4-2 with six minutes to play. Walsh answered at the 4:52 mark before the Griffins scored the final two goals of the quarter.Â
Riley Grudi and
Braedan Lockyer scored the Griffin goals. Â
Michael Coleman and
Wade Brunelle scored for the Griffins in the second quarter as they led 8-4 midway through the second. Coleman and
Gavin Erickson scored 18 seconds apart as the Griffins took a 10-4 lead with six minutes left. Walsh scored three of the next four as they cut the lead to 11-7 with 2:16 left. Herbster and
Mark Strunk scored five seconds apart as the Griffins took a 13-7 lead with Walsh scoring the final goal of the half. Â
After Walsh scored the opening goal of the second half, the Griffins scored the next four in 1:30 as they took a 17-9 lead with 9:13 left in the quarter. Lockyer, Grudi, Herbster and Zostant scored in the 4-0 run. Herbster scored at the seven minute mark as SHU led 18-9. SHU continued the run as they scored the next four goals to take a 22-9 lead. Lockyer had a pair with Herbster and
Colin Socker adding the other two. Â
Zostant, Grudi and
Carter Li scored goals for the Griffins in the fourth. Â
Herbster led the Griffins with 5 goals. Zostant added 4 goals and 2 assists. Lockyer added 4 goals and an assist. Grudi added 3 goals and an assist.Â
Will Cody made 9 saves. Â
The Griffins will host the G-MAC Semifinal next Wednesday afternoon at Seton Hill at 2 PM.   Â
