Korn Spectacular as Griffins Split Doubleheader

Seton Hill concluded their PSAC West four game series with California (PA) as they hosted the Vulcans in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

Ian Korn was spectacular as the Griffins defeated CalU 2-0 in game one of the doubleheader.  CalU earned the split of the doubleheader with a 1-0 win in game two.  SHU is now 25-9 overall and 11-5 in the west.  CalU is now 24-7 overall and 11-4 in the west.

The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game one.  Jack Whalen drew a leadoff walk.  He moved to third on an Owen Henne double.  Whalen then scored on a sacrifice fly from Brady McGuire as the Griffins took a 1-0 lead.

SHU added a second run in the fifth inning.  Whalen singled and then scored on a single from Henne where an error on the play allowed the second run to score.

Korn improved to 7-1 on the season with the complete game one hit shutout.  Ian needed just 68 pitches and finished with 8 strikeouts and no walks.

CalU used a leadoff walk, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI single as they took a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the fourth inning of game two.

Colin Ahr had a pair of hits for the Griffins in game two.

The Griffins will travel to Wheeling for a nonconference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
