Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Gannon

Seton Hill began their PSAC West four game series with Gannon as they hosted the Golden Knights in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.   

Seton Hill defeated Gannon 7-0 in game one of the doubleheader.  Gannon responded with a 5-0 win over the Griffins in game two.  SHU is now 26-10 overall and 12-6 in the PSAC West.  

SHU took an early lead in game one in the bottom of the first inning.  Jack Whalen, Owen Henne and Brady McGuire all singled to load the bases.  Whalen scored on a double play to give SHU a 1-0 lead.  

The Griffins added a second run in the bottom of the second.  Colin Ahr and Mark Black singled to lead off the inning.  With two outs, Whalen singled to score Black and extend the Griffins lead to 2-0.  

SHU added another run in the bottom of the fifth.  McGuire doubled and scored on an Ahr single as SHU took a 3-0 lead.  The Griffins added on in the sixth.  Matt Frazetta tripled to lead off the inning.  He scored on a Whalen RBI single.  Henne singled to put two runners on and McGuire knocked in both runs with a double as the Griffins extended the lead to 6-0.  The Griffins added a seventh run on an RBI ground out from Jakob Haynes.  

Whalen and McGuire each had three hits and drove in two runs.  Henne, Max Mandler, Ahr and Frazetta each had two hits.  Jon McCullough earned his seventh win with a complete game two hit shutout.  He struck out five in the win. 

Gannon scored their first runs of the doubleheader with a three spot in the third inning of game two as the Golden Knights took a 3-0 lead.  The Golden Knights added two more unearned runs in the fifth as they increased their lead to 5-0.  

The Griffins will travel to Gannon on Saturday afternoon to conclude their four game set.
