Griffins Open G-MAC Play With Victory

Seton Hill made the trip to Painesville, OH for the G-MAC Opener against Lake Erie under the lights on Wednesday evening.  

The Griffins used a 7-0 second quarter to take a lead they would not give up in a 13-5 victory.  SHU is now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the G-MAC while Lake Erie falls to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

SHU got off to a rough start in the first quarter as they trailed the Storm 3-1 after the first quarter of action.  Wade Brunelle scored the lone Griffin goal in the quarter.  

The second quarter was all Seton Hill as they outscored the Storm 7-0.  Cullen and Carter Green each scored as the Griffins tied the score at three midway through the second quarter.  Carter Li and Brunelle scored just five seconds a part as SHU took a 5-3 lead with a little over five minutes before the half.  Li, Brunelle and Colin Socker scored three goals in two minutes as the Griffins built an 8-3 halftime lead.  

Green and Kaden Granberg scored 11 seconds a part in the first minute of the third quarter as the Griffins built a 10-3 lead.  Nate Herbster and Connor Zostant scored over the final four minutes of the quarter to give SHU a 12-3 lead.  Green scored the lone Griffin goal in the fourth quarter.

The Griffins outshot the Storm 65-28 in the contest.  SHU won 19 of the 21 faceoffs in the contest.  

Green led the Griffins with three goals and an assist.  Brunelle added three goals and Li finished with two.  Braedan Lockyer added three assists.  Zostant and Granberg each had a goal and assist.  Will Cody recorded 11 saves in net.  

The Griffins will host #16 Indianapolis on Saturday at noon.
