Bats Silenced in Doubleheader Sweep

Seton Hill opened a four game PSAC West set with a doubleheader with Lock Haven in Greensburg on Friday afternoon.

The Griffins managed just three hits in a 1-0 loss in game one of the doubleheader.  Lock Haven completed the sweep of the Griffins with a 5-1 win in game two.  SHU falls to 18-5 overall and 4-2 in the west while Lock Haven improves to 12-13 overall and 2-3 in the west.

Lock Haven used a leadoff double and an RBI fielders choice to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the top of the first inning.

The Griffins threatened in the sixth inning but could not get on the scoreboard.  Owen Henne singled and stole second while moving to third on a wild pitch with one out.  Jakob Haynes walked and pinch runner Austyn Winkleblech stole second to put runners on second and third with one out.  Lock Haven then got a strikeout looking and a ground out to end the inning.

SHU finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning of game two.  Owen Mandler singled to lead off the inning.  Mandler moved to third on an error and scored on a double from Brady McGuire that gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead.

It did not take Lock Haven long to take the lead back with two runs in the top of the fifth inning as they took a 2-1 lead.  Lock Haven added three more in the seventh thanks to a few gifts from the Griffins.  SHU hit two batters, walked one and threw three wild pitches in the inning.

Owen Mandler had two hits for the Griffins.

The Griffins will travel to Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon to complete the four game set.
