Seton Hill hosted #4 Pace in a matchup between two of the top seven teams in the country on Saturday afternoon at DSG Field.
The Griffins outscored Pace 10-2 in the second half as they ran away from the #4 ranked Setters in a 16-5 dominating victory. SHU is now 7-1 on the season while Pace falls to 6-1. Â
SHU scored the first four goals of the contest as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The final three goals were scored in less than a minutes time.Â
Nate Herbster had a pair and
Connor Zostant and
Riley Grudi added the other two goals. Pace answered back with a pair as they cut the Griffins lead to 4-2 at the end of the first quarter. Â
A pair of defenseman teamed up for the first goal of the second quarter as
Charlie Hudson assisted on an
Alex Callahan goal. Herbster scored with 6:41 left in the quarter as SHU built a 6-2 lead but the Setters scored just over a minute later to trim the lead to 6-3.
The teams combined for four goals in just over a minute of action as SHU scored three of them to take a 9-4 lead with just over eleven minutes left in the third quarter. Zostant,
Michael Coleman and Herbster scored the Griffin goals. Pace cut the lead to 9-5 with 8:45 to play but another Zostant goal and a pair from
Braedan Lockyer gave SHU a 12-5 lead after three quarters of action. Â
Brunelle highlighted the fourth quarter scoring as he scored three of the four Griffin goals in the quarter. Herbster added the other goal.
SHU outshot Pace 43-35 with the Griffins holding a 25-14 advantage in shots on goal. SHU was 14-10 in faceoffs in the contest. Â
Brunelle led the offense with 9 points on three goals and six assists. Herbster finished with five goals. Zostant scored three times with Lockyer added two goals and two assists.Â

The Griffins will return to G-MAC play on Tuesday afternoon when they host Davis & Elkins. Â
