Seton Hill continued Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Tuesday afternoon as they hosted Wheeling at DSG Field.
The Griffins jumped out to a 12-2 first quarter lead and cruised to a 30-5 victory over the Cardinals. The Griffins are now 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the G-MAC. Wheeling falls to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the G-MAC.
SHU came out of the gates on fire, scoring six goals in the first five minutes of the contest.
Nate Herbster and
Braedan Lockyer scored two with
Connor Zostant and
Kaden Granberg scoring the other two. Zostant scored two more in the quarter, with
Wade Brunelle,
Mark Strunk,
Colin Socker and Herbster scoring as SHU took a 12-2 lead after one quarter of play.
Brunelle and Zoatant scored a pair of goals in the second quarter with
Gavin Erickson,
Riley Grudi and
Alex Callahan scoring the other three as the Griffins built a 19-4 lead at the halftime break.
Noah Radle and Brunelle each added a pair in the third quarter.
Carter Li,
Eliot Schratz,
Tucker Zostant and Erickson added a goal in the third.
Li, Grudi and Schratz each scored in the fourth quarter for the Griffins.
SHU finished with 71 shots to 22 for the Cards. The Griffins won 36 of the 39 faceoffs in the contest. SHU won the ground ball battle 53-14.
Brunelle led SHU with 5 goals and 3 assists.
Connor Zostant added 5 goals. Herbster scored three times. Erickson had 2 goals and 3 assists. Lockyer and Li each added 2 goals and 2 assists.
SHU will host #4 Pace in a top ten matchup on Saturday afternoon.
