Seton Hill took part in the 2025 Crown Lacrosse Classic on Saturday afternoon in Charlotte, NC as they battled second ranked Tampa.
The Griffins outscored Tampa 5-4 in the second half but it was not enough to overcome a 9-3 first half in a 13-8 loss to the Spartans. SHU falls to 2-1 overall while Tampa improves to 7-0.
Wade Brunelle answered a Tampa goal and tied the score at one at the 12 minute mark of the first quarter. The Spartans scored the next three before Brunelle cut the lead to 4-2 with a man up goal with 4:59 left in the first. Tampa scored the final two goals of the first to lead 6-2 after one.
The Spartans opened the scoring in the second quarter with a trio of goals as they led 9-2.
Braedan Lockyer scored the final goal of the half as SHU trailed 9-3 at the half.
Carter Green and
Kaden Granberg scored a minute a part to open the second half as they cut the lead to four. Tampa answered with a pair before Brunelle scored his third to make it 11-6 after three.
Each team scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter.
Cullen Green and Lockyer scored the Griffin goals.
Brunelle led the offense with three goals. Lockyer added two goals and two assists. Granberg added a goal and assist.
SHU will travel to Lake Erie on Wednesday as they open G-MAC play.
