Men's Lacrosse Cruises to Win in Regular Season Finale

The Griffins closed out the regular season with a G-MAC contest at home with Walsh on Tuesday afternoon.  

Seton Hill used an 8-1 third quarter to pull away and defeat the Cavaliers by the score of 19-6.  SHU ends the regular season with a 10-5 overall record and a 7-1 mark in G-MAC play.  

Peyton Gensler scored two of the first three goals for the Griffins with Braedan Lockyer scoring the third as the Griffins built a 3-0 lead midway through the quarter.  Carter Green scored with 4:31 to play in the quarter before Nate Herbster scored twice in the final 2:41 to give SHU a 6-0 lead after one quarter.  

Walsh opened the second quarter scoring the first three goals as they cut the Griffins lead in half to 6-3 midway through the quarter.  Lockyer scored twice in the final minute of the quarter as the Griffins carried an 8-4 lead into the second half.  

The third quarter was all Seton Hill as they outscored the Cavs 8-1.  Herbster, Gensler and Wade Brunelle scored three goals in less than 30 seconds to extend the lead to 11-4 with just over eleven minutes to play.  Brunelle and Gensler then scored just over thirty seconds apart as SHU extended its lead to 13-4 with nine minutes to play in the quarter.  After a Walsh goal, Lockyer, Andy Davis and Colin Socker scored to put the Griffins in front 16-5.  

Herbster, Gensler and Andrew Mathieu scored for the Griffins in the fourth.  

SHU outshot Walsh 62-33 in the contest.  SHU had 41 ground balls to 17 for Walsh.  The Griffin won 19 of the 29 faceoffs.  

Gensler led the offense with five goals.  Herbster and Lockyer each scored four times.  Herbster added an assist.  Brunelle had two goals and an assist.   Socker had a goal and three assists.  Will Cody had ten saves in the win.  Charlie Hudson and Alex Callahan each had four caused turnovers.  Mark Strunk won 15 of 21 faceoffs. 

The Griffins will host a G-MAC Semifinal next Wednesday afternoon at noon.
