The Seton Hill men's lacrosse team made the trip to Frostburg, Maryland for a key North Region battle with #16 Frostburg State on Wednesday afternoon.
Frostburg used a big second and fourth quarter as they outscored the Griffins 11-2 in those two quarters in route to a 17-9 victory over the Griffins. SHU falls to 8-5 overall and Frostburg improves to 10-3.
The Bobcats scored four of the first six goals in the contest and took a 4-2 lead over the Griffins with just over three minutes to play in the first quarter.
Nate Herbster and
Carter Green scored the two SHU goals.
Braedan Lockyer and Green scored in the final 1:24 of the quarter to tie the contest at four.
SHU got goals from
Wade Brunelle and
Mark Strunk as they took a 6-5 lead with 12:38 left in the first half. Frostburg then scored the final five goals of the quarter to take a 10-6 lead at the halftime break.
Brunelle opened the scoring for the Griffins in the second half. After a Bobcat goal,
Colin Socker and Herbster scored to trim the lead to 11-9 with 4:11 to play in the third quarter. The Bobcats scored the final goal of the third quarter and all five goals of the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
Brunelle, Herbster and Green each scored twice. Green had two assists and Brunelle added one. Lockyer added a goal and assist.
SHU will travel to Davis & Elkins on Saturday evening for a G-MAC contest.
