Crazy Comeback Carries Griffins to OT Win

Seton Hill met Frostburg State in a battle of top twenty teams at Seton Hill on Tuesday afternoon.  

The Griffins scored four goals in a thirty second span to tie the score at 13 late in the contest then walked off the Bobcats with a man up goal 2:58 into the overtime period for a 14-13 come from behind win.  SHU is now 6-3 on the season and the #9 Bobcats fall to 8-1 on the season.  

Just about five minutes into the contest, Jeremy Sforzo gave SHU the 1-0 lead.  With just over four minutes to play, Carter Green added a goal and SHU led 2-0.  The Bobcats then scored three goals in just over two minutes to take a 3-2 lead after one quarter of action.  

Frostburg scored the first two goals of the second quarter as they took a 5-2 lead with 13:35 to play in the first half.  Kaden Granberg scored a man up goal with 13:08 to play to cut the lead back to two.  Frostburg State scored two more before Cogliandro scored with 3.4 seconds to play before the half as SHU cut the lead to 7-4 at the halftime break.  

The Bobcats scored the first three goals of the third quarter as they built a 10-4 lead midway through the quarter.  The Griffins responded with a 4-0 run in just over a three minute span to cut the lead to 10-8.  Connor Zostant scored twice and Andy Davis and Cogliandro each scored once.  Frostburg led 10-8 after three quarters of play.  

Frostburg again started a quarter hot as they scored the first three goals to take a 13-8 lead with 7:18 to play.  That would be the final goal for the Bobcats.  Zostant scored with 6:18 left to trim the lead to 13-9.  With just over a minute and a half to play, the Griffins ran off four goals in just over thirty seconds as they tied the score at 13.  Zostant and Cogliandro scored the first two goals.  Sforzo then picked up a ground ball off a save and scored to cut the lead to one.  Mark Strunk followed by winning a faceoff and scoring with 1:08 to play to tie the game at 13.  The Griffins were able to get a stop and send the game to overtime.  

In overtime, Kage Williams caused a turnover after the Griffins couldn't score on their first possession.  The Bobcats took a tripping penalty with 1:52 to play.  On that man up opportunity, Davis fired a shot with Cogliandro grabbing the ground ball on the rebound and Cogliandro found the back of the cage with 1:02 to play in overtime as SHU walked off the Bobcats. 

Cogliandro led the Griffins with four goals and an assist.  Zostant added four goals.  Sforzo finished with two goals and four assists.  Davis and Strunk each added a goal and assist.  Strunk won 20 of 30 faceoffs.  Josh Miller finished with 11 saves.  

The Griffins will return to G-MAC play on Saturday when they travel to Lake Erie.
