The Griffin men's lacrosse team took a break from G-MAC play as they hosted Molloy on Saturday afternoon in Greensburg.
Seton Hill outscored the Lions 5-0 in the first quarter and never looked back in an 11-4 victory over the Lions. SHU is now 5-3 overall and Molloy falls to 6-4.
Jeremy Sforzo started the Griffins off on the right foot, scoring twice in the first five minutes of the first quarter as SHU jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Midway through the quarter,
Carter Green extended the lead to 3-0.
Peyton Gensler scored with 4:43 left in the quarter and Sforzo scored his third of the quarter with 36 seconds left to give SHU the 5-0 lead.
Neither of the teams were able to score in the second quarter.
Just over three minutes into the third period
Andy Davis increased the Griffins lead to 6-0. Just over a minute later Molloy got on the scoreboard. Under a minute later,
Connor Zostant pushed the SHU advantage back to six at 7-1. After the Tigers made it 7-2,
Vincent Cogliandro and
Colin Socker scored for SHU to give them a 9-2 lead after three quarters.
Molloy scored the first two goals of the fourth but the Griffins closed out the scoring with goals from Davis.
The Griffins outshot Molloy 39-26. SHU won 16 of the 19 faceoffs.
Sforzo led SHU with three goals and five assists. Davis finished with three goals and two assists. Gensler and Cogliandro each added a goal and assist.
Josh Miller made seven saves in the win.
Zach Pettit won 12 of 14 faceoffs.
SHU will host nationally ranked Frostburg State on Tuesday afternoon.
