Seton Hill began their home portion of the schedule with a top 20 matchup as they hosted #7 UIndy on Saturday afternoon.
After the Griffins tied the score at 16, UIndy scored with less than 20 seconds to play as they defeated the Griffins by the score of 17-16. SHU drops to 1-1 while UIndy improves to 3-0.
The Griffins took an early 3-1 lead on goals from
Jeremy Sforzo,
Connor Zostant and
Blake Morrow in the first five minutes of the contest. The Greyhounds responded with three goals as they took a 4-3 lead with 5:26 to play.
Kaden Granberg scored before the Greyhounds scored the final goal of the quarter to take a 5-4 lead.
UIndy scored the first and last goal of the second quarter but the Griffins scored the middle five goals as they took a 9-7 lead into the halftime break.
Vincent Cogliandro scored three straight for the Griffins sandwiched between goals by
Andy Davis and Sforzo.
The Greyhounds outscored the Griffins 5-3 in the third quarter. The teams exchanged goals to open the period with
Peyton Gensler scoring the SHU goal. The Greyhounds then scored four of the next six with
Carter Green and Sforzo scoring the SHU goals as the teams were tied at 12 after three quarters.
Green gave SHU a 13-12 lead less than two minutes into the fourth. UIndy answered with two goals to take a 14-13 lead with 6:39 to play. Less than a minute later, Cogliandro tied the game at 14. UIndy built a 16-14 lead with 4:08 left. Green and
Mark Strunk scored to tie the game at 16 with 1:55 left. The Greyhounds scored the game winner with 16 seconds to play.
Cogliandro led the Griffins with four goals. Sforzo added three goals and an assist. Green finished with three goals. Zostant added a goal and four assists. Davis had a goal and assist. Strunk won 21 of 34 faceoffs.
SHU will travel to Chestnut Hill next Saturday.
