Seton Hill Wins Battle of the Griffins

It was a battle of the Griffins on Dick's Sporting Goods Field on Sunday afternoon when Seton Hill hosted Chestnut Hill.  

Seton Hill came out on top in the battle of the Griffins as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 12-5 win.  SHU improved to 2-1 on the season while Chestnut Hill falls to 0-1.  

Thomas Hanulak scored the first two goals for the Griffins as they took a 2-0 lead with 8:31 to play in the first quarter.  Zack Estabrooks and McGarity Harper scored unassisted goals to increase the SHU lead to 4-0 with 4:49 left in the quarter.  Just 28 seconds later, Estabrooks scored his second of the quarter as SHU led 5-0 after one quarter of play.  

Chestnut Hill got on the board with their first goal to start the second quarter.  Hanulak answered right back just seven seconds later as the Griffins led 6-1 with 12:42 to play before the half.  Layne Harich increased the Griffins lead to 7-1, 9:20 before the half.  Chestnut Hill scored the final two goals of the half, the final one with just seconds remaining as SHU led 7-3 at the half.  

Colin Torpey scored for the Griffins to open the second half scoring.  A Chestnut Hill goal cut the Griffins advantage back to four before Harper scored the final two goals of the quarter, one a man up goal as SHu built their lead to 10-4 after three quarters of play.  

Harper and Hanulak scored the final two Griffin goals in the fourth quarter.  

Harper led the Griffins with four goals and two assists.  Hanulak added four goals and an assist.  Estabrooks finished with two goals.  Harich added a goal and an assist.  Logan Gray won 13 of 19 faceoffs.  Josh Miller recorded 11 saves in cage to earn the win.  

Seton Hill outshot Chestnut Hill 51-32 and held a 24-16 lead in shots on goal.  SHU was 1-4 in man up opportunities.

The Griffins will travel to U Indy next Saturday for another non conference matchup.
