Hanulak's Career High Carries Griffins at #4 Mercy

The Griffins traveled to Dobbs Ferry, NY for an important NCAA North Regional contest with #4 ranked Mercy College on Saturday afternoon.  

Thomas Hanulak scored a career high six goals to lead the #7 Griffins to a 12-5 win over the Mavericks.  SHU is now 8-1 overall while Mercy drops their first contest of the season and falls to 7-1.  

Seton Hill jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter behind three goals from Hanulak.  He opened the scoring 1:38 in to give SHU the early lead.  Fourty seconds later, Zack Estabrooks scored to put the Griffins in front 2-0.  Mercy scored midway thru the first quarter to cut the Griffins lead in half.  Hanulak then scored the final two goals of the quarter including one with 44 seconds to play as SHU took a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.  

Mercy opened the scoring in the second quarter to cut the SHU lead to 4-2.  The Griffins then scored the final three goals of the quarter as they built a 7-2 lead heading into the halftime break.  Logan Maloni, Estabrooks and Hanulak scored for the Griffins to end the half.  Estabrooks scored with just one second to go in the half.  

The Griffins out shot the Mavericks 24-16 in the first half.  Faceoffs were 6-4 in favor of the Griffins.  Kevin Mo made twelve saves in the first half.  

The Mavericks scored twice in the first four minutes of the third quarter as they trimmed the Griffins lead to 7-4.  Jeremy Sforzo scored the only other goal of the quarter as SHU led 8-4 heading to the fourth quarter.  

SHU put the game away as they scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter before the midway point of the quarter.  Maloni opened the scoring in the quarter and Hanulak followed with two goals before McGarity Harper closed out the SHU scoring.  

Seton Hill out shot Mercy 42-34 in the contest.  Mercy won the faceoff battle 11-9.  

Hanulak scored a career high six goals to lead the Griffins.  Maloni and Estabrooks each scored twice with Maloni adding two assists and Estabrooks adding one.  Harper finished with a goal and assist.  Mo made a career high 19 saves.  

SHU will return to G-MAC action on Tuesday when they travel to Alderson Broaddus.
