Seton Hill returned to Great Midwest Conference play with a road contest at Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday afternoon.
The Griffins were able to clinch a G-MAC playoff spot with a convincing 23-7 road win. SHU is now 9-1 overall and 4-1 in G-MAC play.
SHU jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest on two goals from
McGarity Harper and one goal each from
Andy Davis,
Logan Maloni and
Ryan Manbeck. After an AB goal midway through the quarter, the Griffins closed the quarter on another 5-0 run.
Zack Estabrooks and
Layne Harich scored twice in the run while Manbeck added the other goal as the Griffins led 10-1 after one quarter.
The Griffins opened the second quarter scoring the first four goals. Harper and Manbeck each scored their third goals of the contest in the 4-0 run. Jake Mineweiser and
Logan Wiland scored the other two goals as SHU took a 14-1 lead with 6:03 left in the half. AB scored with 37 seconds left as SHU took a 14-2 lead into the halftime break.
Seton Hill held a 37-11 advantage in shots in the first half. They won 14 of 18 faceoffs.
Jeremy Sforzo and
Tyler Zameroski opened the scoring in the second half for the Griffins. Another Zameroski goal was sandwiched between two AB goals in the middle of the third quarter. Wiland closed out the third quarter scoring with two goals as the Griffins took a 19-4 lead into the fourth quarter.
Brian Fehr and
Dan Rupert scored early in the fourth quarteras the Griffins extended their lead to 21-4. Mike Malloy and
Logan Gray closed out the scoring for the Griffins.
Seton Hill finished with a 78-20 advantage in shots. The Griffins won 29 of 32 faceoffs.
Manbeck, Wiland and Harper led the Griffins with three goals each. Manbeck added an assist. Zameroski, Estabrooks and Harich each scored twice. Maloni finished with a goal and three assists.
Josh Miller earned the win in cage and made five saves.
The Griffins close out the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Walsh. The winner of the contest will finish second in the league and host a playoff contest next Wednesday.
