Big First Half Carries Griffins to G-MAC Road Win

The Griffin men's lacrosse team made the trip to Painesville, OH for a matchup against Lake Erie under the lights in G-MAC action.  

Seton Hill used a big first half as they took a 13-3 lead into the halftime break in route to a 17-7 road victory.  SHU improves to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in G-MAC action.  

SHU jumped out to a 3-0 lead just three minutes into the contest on goals from Zack Estabrooks, Ryan Manbeck and Thomas Hanulak.  Lake Erie responded with two goals to trim the SHU lead to 3-2 with 6:19 to play in the quarter.  The Griffins then closed the quarter on a 4-0 run to take a 7-2 into the second quarter.  Logan Wiland, Robert Hofseth, Layne Harich and Hanulak scored in the 4-0 spurt.  

The early portion of the second quarter was all Griffins as they outscored the Storm by a 5-0 margin over nearly the first 10 minutes.  Manbeck, Hanulak and Estabrooks each scored a goal and Logan Maloni added two as SHU built a 12-2 lead with 8:19 to play in the half.  The teams then exchanged goals with McGarity Harper closing out the scoring in the half.  SHU led 13-3 at the half.  

The Storm held a 3-2 advantage in goals in the third quarter with Harich and Andy Davis scoring for SHU.  The fourth quarter was low scoring as SHU outscored the Storm 2-1 in the final fifteen minutes.  David St Clair and Dan Rupert scored for the Griffins.  

SHU outshot Lake Erie 48-39 in the contest.  Lake Erie won 14 of 26 faceoffs while SHU held a 28-22 advantage in ground balls.

Hanulak led the Griffins with three goals.  Maloni, Manbeck, Estabrooks and Harich each scored twice.  Maloni added two assists.  Kevin Mo made a career high 18 saves in the win.

SHU is scheduled to host Frostburg State on Tuesday afternoon.
