Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#3 Griffins Cruise Past Davis & Elkins

The #3 Griffin men's lacrosse team opened Great Midwest Conference play as they hosted Davis & Elkins on Tuesday afternoon.  

The team set a new school record for goals in a game as they cruised to a 34-4 come from behind home victory.  SHU improves to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in G-MAC play.  The 34 goals scored are tied for the third most goals ever scored in a Division II lacrosse game.  

Davis & Elkins opened the scoring just 1:48 into the contest.  The Griffins then responded with 24 in a row to put the game away.  SHU led 11-1 at the end of the first quarter.  Logan Maloni scored four times in the quarter.  Robert Hofseth, Zack Estabrooks and Ryan Manbeck each scored twice during the quarter.  

Seton Hill scored the lone eight goals in the second quarter to build a 19-1 halftime lead.  Eight different Griffins scored a goal in the second quarter.  

SHU outscored the Senators by an 11-1 margin in the third quarter to extend their lead to 30-2 after three quarters of play.  Brian Fehr scored twice in the period.  Vincent Cogliandro added two goals and two assists in the period.  

The game closed out with the Griffins holding a 4-2 advantage in the fourth quarter.  

Maloni led the Griffins with four goals and four assists.  Hofseth and Fehr each added three goals and two assists.  Estabrooks added three goals.  Cogliandro finished with two goals and four assists.  Manbeck added two goals and two assists.  Andy Davis, Peyton Gensler and Sam Lattore each added two goals.  

Logan Gray was 22-22 in faceoffs with 17 ground balls.  Kevin Mo made two saves to earn the win.  

The Griffins outshot the Senators by a 71-13 margin.  SHU won 36 of the 43 faceoffs in the contest.

SHU returns to action on March 20th when they host #4 Mercyhurst.
