Men's Lacrosse Dominant in Battle of Griffins

Seton Hill and Chestnut Hill met in a battle of Griffins in the first game of the season for both teams.  Seton Hill dominated Chestnut Hill to built a 17-3 halftime lead and cruised to a 24-8 win.  

Both teams started the contest off slowly as a Zach Estabrooks' goal was the lone goal in the first seven minutes of the contest.  Logan Maloni and Robert Hofseth scored just over 40 seconds apart to give SHU a 3-0 lead with 6:56 to play in the quarter.  After a Chestnut Hill goal, Hofseth scored three more goals and Thomas Hanulak added another as SHU took a 7-1 lead after the first quarter.  

The second quarter was all Seton Hill as they outscored Chestnut Hill by a 10-2 margin to build a 17-3 halftime lead.  Logan Maloni scored three times and Hofseth and Jeremy Sforzo each scored twice in the quarter.  

Hofseth opened the scoring in the third quarter with a goal with 7:27 to play in the quarter.  Dan Rupert and Peyton Gensler followed with goals to put SHU in front 20-3 with four minutes to play in the quarter.  Hofseth added another one and Brian Fehr and Logan Wiland each scored to wrap up the third quarter scoring.  

Ryan Manbeck scored the lone SHU goal in the fourth quarter.  

Seton Hill finished the contest with 62 shots.  The Griffins also were 3-4 in man up opportunities and won the ground ball battle 48-24.  SHU also won 24 of 36 faceoffs.  

Hofseth led the offense with 8 goals and 1 assist.  Maloni finished with 4 goals and 3 assists.  Manbeck added 2 goals and 5 assists.  Kevin Mo finished with 12 saves in 37 minutes of action.  Logan Gray was 19-31 in faceoffs and Logan Wiland won all 5 of his faceoffs.  Gray led the team with 15 ground balls.  Andrew Clark led SHU with 3 caused turnovers.

SHU returns to action next week with their home opener against Walsh next Saturday at noon.
