Griffins Dominant in Home Opener

Seton Hill hosted Davenport on Sunday afternoon in the home opener for the Griffins. 

The Griffins scored early and often as they routed Davenport by the score of 20-1.  SHU scored 11 times in the second quarter to put the game away and did not allow a goal until the final minute of the contest.  SHU opens the season with a 2-0 record. 

David St Clair opened the scoring for the Griffins with two goals in the first 2:14 of the contest.  Robert Hofseth, Logan Maloni and Dan Rupert each scored in the first quarter as SHU took a 5-0 lead after one period of play.  Maloni had the goal and three assists in the period. 

The second quarter was all Griffins as they scored eleven times.  Five different Griffins all scored goals in less than a four minute span as SHU build a 10-0 lead early in the second.  McGarity Harper, Thomas Hanulak, Zack Estabrooks, Hofseth and Maloni each scored in the first four minutes.  Ryan Manbeck scored twice and Peyton Gensler added a goal as SHU pushed their advantage to 13-0.  Maloni scored two more and Hofseth added one before the half to give SHU a 16-0 halftime advantage. 

Estabrooks and Manbeck scored the only two tallies for the Griffins in the third quarter. 

Ethan Quinn and Noah Bussard scored the final two goals for SHU in the fourth.  Davenport got on the board with 1:10 to play in the contest. 

Maloni paced the offense with 4 goals and 5 assists.  Hofseth finished with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Manbeck added 3 goals and an assist.  St Clair finished with 2 goals and 2 assists.  Estabrooks had 2 goals and an assist while Rupert and Harper each had a goal and an assist.  Jay Scerbo was 10-14 on faceoffs while Logan Gray was 8-9.  Colin Torpey caused two turnovers for SHU.  Kevin Mo made 6 saves for the win in one half of action.

SHU will next travel to Mt Olive next Saturday afternoon.
