Seton Hill began their 2020 season with a road contest at Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon as they began Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
The Griffins jumped out to an 18-4 lead at the half and cruised to a 26-8 victory over the Senators.
Davis & Elkins scored the opening goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead. SHU responded with 5 straight goals over a three minute span to take a 5-1 lead. Five different Griffins scored over the run. After another Senator goal, the Griffins closed the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 10-2 lead after the first period of action.
Robert Hofseth and
Logan Maloni each scored twice in the quarter.
The teams exchanged man up goals to start the second quarter. SHU scored four times in 1:17 to take a 15-3 lead with 10:29 to play in the half. SHU took an 18-4 lead into the halftime break. Eight different Griffins scored a goal in the second half.
Seton Hill outscored the Senators 5-3 in the third quarter to take a 23-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter saw just four goals with three of them from the Griffins.
Maloni led the Griffins with 3 goals and 3 assists. Hofseth and
Peyton Gensler each added 3 goals.
David St Clair and
McGarity Harper each added two goals and an assist.
Ryan Manbeck finished with a goal and two assists.
Kevin Mo earned the win in the cage, he allowed 5 goals while making 2 saves in 36 minutes of action.
SHU returns home for their home opener on Sunday afternoon when they host Davenport.
