Griffins Pick Up PSAC West Win vs Clarion

The Griffin women's soccer team hosted Clarion in a PSAC West contest on Wednesday afternoon at Dick's Field.

Seton Hill jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 4-2 victory.  SHU improves to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in PSAC West play while Clarion falls to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in PSAC West play.

The Griffins got on the board first in the eleventh minute.  Italia Biondi tapped in a Katie Kimmich cross at the left post for a 1-0 Griffin lead.  Just over ten minutes later, Alyssa Neast took a Hope Creamer throw in and hit a shot into the back of the net from the top of the box to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.  With just over thirteen minutes to play in the first half, Alexis Garia scored her first collegiate goal.  She took a pass from Creamer and shot it over the keeper into the top right hand corner of the net.  The Griffins took a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.  SHU outshot Clarion 12-5 in the first half.

Nearly twenty three minutes into the second half, the Griffins increased their lead to 4-0.  Olivia DeLeonibus dribbled down the right side and got to the endline before sending a cross that Kimmich finished with a tap in in front of the net.  Clarion scored two late goals to end the scoring.

Kimmich finished the contest with a goal and an assist.  Creamer finished with two assists.  Elyza Pilatowski-Herzing did not give up a goal in 72 minutes of action, making six saves.

SHU continues PSAC West play with a road contest under the lights at Mercyhurst on Saturday.
