GREENSBURG, PA. - Mercyhurst University used a 5-1 run in the fourth quarter to outlast Seton Hill University, 14-10, in the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship game on Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field. The Griffins will have to wait until Sunday's NCAA DII Men's Lacrosse Selection Show to find out if and where they'll land in the NCAA Tournament. First round games are scheduled to start on Wednesday
// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill falls to to 12-4 on the year.
• SHU held decisive advantages in Shots (40-31) and won 22 of 28 Face Offs.
• The Griffins committed a season-high 24 Turnovers in the game.
• The Mercyhurst defense held SHU to just 9-of-17 Clears.
// SHU LEADERS
• Robert Hofseth, Zack Estabrooks, and Ryan Manbeck each scored two goals in the game. Jay Scerbo, Christian Krauch, Bennett Johnson, and Clayton Paysen all added a goal in the game.
• Max Eismann finished with seven saves in all 60:00 played.
// HOW IT HAPPENED
• Seton Hill got on the board early when Ryan Manbeck scored off of a John Miller assist less than one minute into the game to give SHU a 1-0 lead. However, Mercyhurst would respond with the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead with 7:44 remaining in the first. The Griffins would not regain the lead again until Bennett Johnson's goal with 10:05 remaining in the third quarter put SHU ahead, 8-7. After Jarrett Crook tied the game again at 9-9, Zack Estabrooks' unassisted goal put the lead back into SHU's hand, 9-8, with 3:40 remaining in the third. That would be the final lead for the Griffins as the Lakers went on to outscore Seton Hill 6-1 the rest of the way to win their first G-MAC Tournament Championship, 14-10.
