Middle Quarters Power Griffins to Win at WJU

The Griffins made the trip along I-70 to Wheeling to take on Wheeling Jesuit in G-MAC action on Wednesday evening under the lights.  SHU outscored the Cards 15-3 in the middle two quarters in route to a 21-8 victory.  SHU has now won four in a row and improves to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in G-MAC action.

The game got off to a slow start with the team's alternating goals in the first quarter.  SHU took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.  Logan Maloni scored the first and last goals of the quarter for the Griffins. 

The second quarter was all Seton Hill as they outscored the Cards 8-2.  SHU scored the first five goals of the quarter to take an 8-2 lead with 10:19 to play in the second quarter.  Bennett Johnson, Brett Craig, Zack Estabrooks, Thomas Hanulak and Jay Scerbo scored for the Griffins.  Wheeling answered with two goals before the Griffins closed out the scoring with three goals to take an 11-4 halftime lead.  Dan Rupert, Robert Hofseth and David St Clair scored for SHU.

The Griffins then outscored the Cards 7-1 in the third period.  Seven different Griffins scored goals during the quarter.  Johnson, Hofseth, John Miller, Estabrooks, Collin Mitchell, Tyler Zameroski and Ryan Manbeck each scored goals.

Michael Malloy and Rupert scored for SHU as they closed out the game in the fourth quarter.

Estabrooks, Johnson, Mitchell, Rupert, Maloni, Malloy and Robert Hofseth each with 2 goals. Max Eismann led SHU with 7 saves, Kevin Mo added 4.

SHU continues G-MAC play with an important conference matchup at Lake Erie on Saturday night.
