Griffins Open Season With Win Over Molloy

GREENSBURG, Pa. - John Hofseth scored a game-high four goals as the Seton Hill University men's lacrosse team started off the 2019 campaign with an 18-4 win over Molloy College (NY) in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field. 

// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill pelted the net with 59 total shots, 32 of which were on-goal. 
• Molloy's James O'Grady grabbed 14 saves in the loss.
• SHU's Max Eismann grabbed five saves, while Kevin Mo had two in second-half relief.
• SHU dominated the face-offs, winning 17 compared to just seven for Molloy.

// FIRST QUARTER
•  After a slow start to the game, Ryan Manbeck got the Griffins on the board with a goal at the 10:20 mark in the first. Seton Hill would rattle off three-straight with goals from Dan Rupert, Robert Hofseth, and John Hofseth before Molloy finally broke through with a goal at 5:05 to make it 4-1. John Hofseth would score his second goal of the game with 3:34 remaining as SHU took a 5-1 lead into the second.

// SECOND QUARTER
• The Griffins kept up the scoring with four goals in the second. Ryan Manbeck scored his second of the game before John Miller and Logan Maloni got to the party with goals of their own to give SHU a 8-1 lead with 7:35 showing on the clock. Robert Hofseth then scored his third of the game at 5:47, but Molloy's Richie Polizzi Jr. would find the back of the net at 2:07 to make the score 9-2 heading into halftime.

// THIRD QUARTER
Collin Mitchell scored twice in the third, followed by goals from Thomas Hanulak, Brett Craig, Zack Estabrooks, and another from Hanulak as SHU grabbed a commanding 15-2 advantage in the third.

// FOURTH QUARTER
John Hofseth scored the first two goals on the fourth, and John Miller had the other as the Griffins cruised to the 18-4 win.

// UP NEXT
• SHU takes on Alerson Broaddus in G-MAC action tomorrow at noon.
