#3 Seton Hill opened Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Sunday afternoon as they hosted Alderson Broaddus in the league opener for both teams. The Griffins scored 14 goals in the first half and cruised to an easy 21-6 victory over the Battlers. SHU is now 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in G-MAC play.
It did not take the Griffins long to get on the board as
John Miller scored just 30 seconds into the contest. A goal from
Logan Maloni and one from
Robert Hofseth just 38 seconds apart extended the SHU lead to 3-0 with 12:16 to play in the quarter. Maloni and
Collin Mitchell scored just 22 seconds apart and SHU led 5-0. AB got a goal before
Robert Hofseth scored twice to give SHU a 7-1 advantage after the first quarter of play.
Seton Hill outscored the Battlers 7-2 in the second quarter. SHU had six different goal scorers in the quarter with Maloni having two in the quarter.
Miller and
Tyler Zameroski had the two Griffin goals in the third quarter as they extended their lead to 16-4 after three quarters of play.
Two Griffins scored their first collegiate goals in the fourth quarter.
McGarity Harper scored the second goal of the quarter and closed out the scoring with the 21st goal for the Griffins.
Luke Mattola scored the Griffins 19th goal.
Leading the way for the Griffins was Maloni with 5 goals and 2 assists.
John Hofseth added a goal and 6 assists.
Ryan Manbeck added a goal and 4 assists.
Robert Hofseth scored four times for the Griffins. Miller, Mitchell and McGarity each scored twice for the Griffins.
Jay Scerbo was 16-19 in faceoffs while
Logan Gray was 9-11.
Kevin Mo made 6 saves in two quarters of action.
SHU will continue its homestand next weekend when they host the University of Indianapolis next Saturday afternoon.
