The Seton Hill women's soccer team headed to Indiana, PA to take on the Crimson Hawks in PSAC West action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins scored once in the first half and twice in the second as
Elyza Pilatowski-Herzing made the most saves by a Griffin since 2013 in a 3-0 road shutout win over IUP. SHU is now 4-4 overall on the season and 4-2 in PSAC West play.
Both teams had scoring chances in the first 25 minutes but both keepers were up to the challenge. SHU finally broke thru in the 30th minute.
Alyssa Neast's shot hit the post and
Katie Kimmich pounced on the rebound and put it into the back of the net for a 1-0 Griffin lead. Both teams finished with seven shots in the first half. SHU held a 2-1 advantage in corners. Pilatowski-Herzing added five saves in the half.
It did not take the Griffins long to get on the scoreboard in the second half. The Griffins took advantage of an early corner and an IUP own goal in the first minute to take a 2-0 lead over the Crimson Hawks. SHU put the game away with less than five minutes to play. Shamike Langevine hit Neast with a pass and Neast's low shot beat the keeper for a 3-0 Griffin lead.
IUP finished with a 17-12 advantage in shots. They also had five corners to the Griffins four.
Neast paced the Griffins with a goal and an assist. Pilatowski-Herzing finished with a career high 14 saves. It is the fourth most by a keeper in the PSAC this season and ties the most by a Griffin since the 2013 season.
SHU will continue PSAC West play on Saturday afternoon when they visit California (PA).
