Seton Hill closed out the regular season in style with their thirteenth straight win as they defeated Walsh 22-4 on the road on Saturday afternoon. SHU jumped out to a 13-1 lead at the half and rolled to the win. SHU is now 14-1 on the season and finishes the G-MAC schedule with a perfect 7-0 record.
The Griffins led 4-1 after the first quarter on two goals by
Jack Moran. SHU used a 9-0 advantage in the second quarter to pull away from the Cavaliers.
Zack Rusch and
Logan Maloni scored twice in the quarter as SHU built a 13-1 halftime lead.
SHU then outscored Walsh 6-2 in the third quarter and then 3-1 in the fourth quarter for the 22-4 advantage.
Rusch and
Brett Craig led SHU with 3 goals. Rusch added an assist as well. Maloni led the Griffins with 7 points on 2 goals and 5 assists.
Jack Moran finished with 2 goals and 4 assists.
Sean Stanners added two goals and two assists.
John Hofseth and
John Miller each scored twice.
The Griffins will now host the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships this Thursday and Saturday. The top seeded Griffins will host the #4 seed Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals at noon in the first semifinal. Lake Erie and Mercyhurst will play in the other semifinal at 3 PM.
