Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Griffins Clinch G-MAC Regular Season Championship

For the first time in school history, the Seton Hill men's lacrosse program has won a Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season championship.  The Griffins clinched the regular season championship with a 22-4 road win at Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday afternoon.  The fourth ranked Griffins improve to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in G-MAC play.

By winning the regular season title, the Griffins will now host the G-MAC Tournament next Thursday and Saturday, May 3rd and 5th, in Greensburg.  The top four seeds in the league make the G-MAC Tourney with two semifinals on Thursday and the G-MAC championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Last season, the Griffins won the inaugural G-MAC Tournament with a 15-10 win over Mercyhurst in Erie.

The Griffins jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first quarter.  Zack Rusch tallied two goals in the quarter.  SHU then blew the game open with an 11-0 second quarter to take a 17-1 lead at the halftime break.  SHU out shot AB 35-8 in the first half.  Jack Moran scored three times in the quarter with Logan Maloni and Adam Reimer adding two goals in the second quarter.

SHU then shut the offense down in the second half, just outscoring the Battlers 5-3 in the second half.

Moran led the Griffins with 5 goals and an assist. Moran also set a new single season record with 78 points, breaking the mark set by SHU Hall of Famer Joel Zalesky of 75 in 2010.

Rusch finished with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Reimer added 2 and 2.  Brett Craig and Maloni each finished with 2 goals and an assist.  The Hofseth brothers, Robert and John, each tallied two goals.  Jay Scerbo was 21-27 in faceoffs.  Craig and Scerbo each added 9 ground balls with Craig forcing 6 tunovers.  All three Griffin goalies saw time in the game with each making at least one save.

SHU will close out the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Walsh.
