Baseball Sweeps West Liberty In Non-Conference Twin Bill

WEST LIBERTY, WV - The Seton Hill University baseball team defeated West Liberty 9-3 in game one before taking game two 13-1 in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon at Kovalick Field.

// NOTABLES
• SHU moves to 20-17 overall
• Seton Hill's five wins in a row equals the second time this month that the team has accomplished such a feat. The team is 11-3 in the month of April.
• Sophomore Brian Dabney (2-0) won game one while senior standout Perry DellaValle (4-5) earned the game two win.
• The 13 runs in game two is the fourth highest scoring game this season.
• The Griffins are 10-0 when scoring 9+ runs in a game.
 
// GAME ONE KEY INNINGS
Top of the 7th
• The Griffins broke open a 3-3 game when they scored six runs in the top of the 7th inning. A Parker Denny triple down the right field line scored the first three of the inning. Ryan Wardropper then laid down a bunt, scoring Denny. Tom McCarthy's singled to left center then scored two more to put the game out of reach.

// GAME TWO KEY INNINGS
Top of the 1tst
• After ending game one on a high note, the bats stayed warm as the Griffins scored four runs to start off game two. Law's single scored one, followed by a sac fly from Mark Colella that plated Law two at-bats later. An Adam Bankovich single brought in two more to give SHU a 4-0 lead.
Top of the 3rd
• Bankovich's one-out sac fly with the bases loaded scored Colella from third. Colton Carney's double down the left field line plated two more to make it 7-0.
Top of the 6th
• The bats exploded for another six runs in the 6th to again put the game solely in Griffin hands. SHU took advantage two errors, a wild pitch, and had two batters hit in the inning. 

// UP NEXT
Seton Hill steps back into PSAC play when they welcome Indiana University of Pennsylvania into Greensburg on Friday. Game one of the doubleheader is set to start at 1:00 PM.
