Griffins Post Convincing Win Over North Greenville

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University men's lacrosse team posted a convincing 17-5 win over North Greenville University in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.

Seton Hill improves to 6-1 on the season, while North Greenville evens their record at 4-4.

John Hofseth and Jack Moran led the scoring for Seton Hill with four and three goals. Moran added four assists on the day. SHU received a goal from Jay Scerbo, Nick Neferis, Logam Maloni, Ryan Hayes, Zack Rusch, Sean Stanners, Adam Reimer, Ryan Manbeck, Colin Torpey, and Michael Malloy. Max Erismann had five saves in the win.

Sean Stanners opened up the game with a goal at 13:59, but NGU would get goals from Hunter Burgett and Alex Proly to take a 2-1 lead with 8:50 showing in the first. However, John Hofseth scored back-to-back goals to regain the lead and SHU would add goals from Jack Moran, another by Hofseth, and one from Zack Rusch to take a 6-2 lead into the second quarter. After North Greenville started the second quarter with a goal, the Griffins would reel off three unanswered and lead 9-3 heading into halftime.

Seton Hill blanked the Crusaders in the third while scoring five of their own to take a commanding 14-3 lead. Moran, Ryan Manbeck, Hofseth, Colin Torpey, and Logan Maloni all scored in the frame. NGU would get two more to start off the fourth, but SHU would respond with three-straight - one from Ryan Hayes, one from Adam Reimer, and one from Michael Malloy - and cruise to the 17-5 victory.

The Griffins will have a week off before taking on Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, March 24th at 12:00 PM.
