#6 IUP Ends Griffins Six Game Winning Streak

Seton Hill made the short trip to Indiana, PA to take on the #6 Crimson Hawks on Wednesday evening in PSAC West action at the KCAC.  The Crimson Hawks scored the first six points of the contest and never looked back as they ended the Griffins six game winning streak with a 89-57 win.  SHU falls to 15-5 overall and 10-4 in PSAC play.  IUP improves to 17-1 and 12-1 in PSAC play. 
 
IUP got off to a quick start against the Griffins as they jumped out to a 14-5 lead at the first media timeout.  Jenna Kaufman had all five points for the Griffins.  Kaufman continued to pace the Griffins as she scored their first 13 points and the Griffins trailed 15-13 with just over two minutes to play in the quarter.  IUP held a 22-15 lead after the first quarter.
 
The Crimson Hawks opened the second quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 28-17 lead with 6:52 to play in the quarter, forcing a Griffin timeout.  IUP was able to extend their lead to 38-24 at the half.  Kaufman had 14 points for the Griffins.  SHU shot just 24% in the first half.
 
The Griffin opened the second half with two baskets from Hannah Laslo and Kaufman to trim the lead to 38-28 two minutes into the half.  IUP answered with a 7-0 run to push the lead back to 45-28 and force a SHU timeout at 6:31 to play in the quarter.  Cheyenne Trest ended a four minute field goal drought with a three pointer with 3:15 to play that cut the IUP lead to 52-34.  IUP led 63-38 at the end of the third quarter. 
 
At the fourth quarter media timeout, the Griffins trailed 74-48. 
 
Jenna Kaufman led the Griffins with 17 points.  Cheyenne Trest also reached double figures with 13 points.  Alexandra Hay added 8 points. 
 
SHU will continue their road trip on Saturday as they head to Clarion for a 1 PM tipoff.
