Men's Lacrosse Edged By Lake Erie, 10-9

PLAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Seton Hill University men's lacrosse team rallied from a three-goal deficit at Lake Erie College, but the Storm proved too much as Lake Erie edged #11 Seton Hill, 10-9 in a battle of Great Midwest Athletic Conference newcomers on Saturday evening at Jack Britt Stadium in Plainesville.

The loss moves Seton Hill to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the G-MAC. Lake Erie has now won four-straight and sit at 6-4 overall (5-0 G-MAC).

The Griffins trailed by three, 7-4, with 12:27 remaining in the third quarter but rattled off three unanswered to tie the game at 7-7. John Hofseth scored back-to-back goals over a five-minute span to cut the Storm lead to one, 7-6. Jack Moran then tied the game at 7-7 with under two minutes to go in the frame.

However, any momentum gained in the third was taken back when Lake Erie scored goals at the 10:05 and 5:58 marks of the fourth quarter to regain the lead, 9-7. Hofseth scored his third of the game off of a Bennett Johnson assist during a man-up opportunity 5:30 remaining, but Lake Erie would strike back just 28 seconds later. Johnson cut the deficit to one with a goal off of a Collin Mitchell assist, but a late shot attempt by Mitchell went wide as the Storm held on for the win.

Bennett Johnson and John Hofseth scored three goals apiece. Jack Moran, John Miller, and Collin Mitchell each added one goal apiece. Moran led SHU with two assists.

SHU's Merritt Bailey picked up the loss, giving up 10 goals while registering eight saves in all 60 minutes played defending the net. Conor Sharkey got the win for Lake Erie.

Seton Hill will look to get back to their winning ways when they take on Walsh University on April 11th at Dick's Sporting Goods Field. That game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
