GREENSBURG, Pa. -
John Miller and
Collin Mitchell scored two goals apiece as Seton Hill University defeated Walsh University in Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
Seton Hill improves to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in G-MAC action. Walsh falls to 1-10 on the year and 1-3 in G-MAC play.
Unassisted goals by
John Miller (14:16),
Adam Reimer (1:24), and
Collin Mitchell (:04) paced SHU to a 3-0 first quarter.
Jack Moran scored the only goal of the second.
Walsh got on the board in the third quarter with Alex Hudgens scoring with just under eleven minutes showing on the clock, but SHU's
John Hofseth scored off of a
Jack Moran assist to make it 5-1 in favor of the Griffins. Hudgens would score again to cut the lead to 5-2 just before the start of the fourth. The two teams would trade goals when Mitchell scored his second of the game with 14:03 to go, followed by a Bryan Crim goal at 10:32. Late goals by
John Miller (7:19),
Jack Miller (6:19), and
Shane Pettke (5:02) solidified the 9-3 win.
For the game, Seton Hill edged Walsh in total shots, 32-29, and shots on goal, 18-14. Walsh committed 17 turnovers compared to 14 for Seton Hill. The Griffins won the face off battle, 8-7.
Max Eismann grabbed 11 saves as he picked up the win in the first start of his collegiate career. Walsh's Dylan Ciolino had nine saves for Walsh in the loss.
Seton Hill is scheduled to take on the New York Institute of Technology on April 15th. That game is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start in Old Westbury, NY.
