Seton Hill shot 55% from the floor and got a career high 30 points from senior
Jenna Kaufman as the Griffins rolled to a 92-66 PSAC Crossover road win at Kutztown on Saturday afternoon. SHU jumped out to a 46-31 halftime lead and extended that lead in the second half. The Griffins improve to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in PSAC play.
The first half of the first quarter was tightly played with Kutztown leading 13-12 midway thru the quarter. Kutztown pushed their lead to 15-12 before a three pointer from
Halie Torris tied the score at 15. A three pointer from
Lindsey Mifsud and a jumper from
Jenna Kaufman gave SHU a 26-21 lead after one quarter of action.
The Griffins opened the second half with an 11-0 run over the first two minutes of the quarter. Kaufman scored eight of the eleven points and Torris added the other thre pointer as SHU took a 37-21 lead. Six straight points from Kaufman gave SHU a 46-29 lead at the halftime break.
Kutztown cut the Griffins lead to ten at 48-38 early in the third quarter. The Griffins responded with an 8-2 run, the last four from
Katie Nolan, to push the lead back to 56-39 midway thru the third quarter. SHU then closed the quarter on a 15-7 run to take a 71-46 lead into the fourth quarter.
SHU was able to build their lead to as many as 28 points on a three pointer from
Kelly Weeks in the fourth quarter.
Kaufman scored a career high 30 points on 9-13 shooting from the floor and 10-12 from the free throw line. She also added 7 rebounds. Torris added 13 points off the bench for the Griffins. Nolan posted her first career double double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Mifsud and
Hannah Laslo each added 8 points.
The Griffins will return to action on Thursday when they host WV Wesleyan at 5:30 PM.
