GREENSBURG, Pa. - Seton Hill standout senior
Jenna Kaufman led all scorers with 22 points, and eclipsed the 1,000th point mark as the Griffins outmatched Lock Haven, 89-61, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Sunday afternoon inside the McKenna Center on the campus of Seton Hill University.
The Griffins improve to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC. Lock Haven slips to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
After Lock Haven scored the first bucket of the game, the Griffins would score the next 16 points of the contest to take a 16-2 lead. Seton Hill would never look back, eventually pushing the lead to 42, 85-43, in the waning stages of the game before settling on a final score of 89-51.Â
Kaufman led all scorers with 22 points and 10 rebounds on a 7-for-14 performance from the field, including 3-for-4 from long-range and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Senior
Alexandra Hay scored 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor. Sophomore
Sydney Rabold had a career-high 17 points while
Cheyenne Trest chipped in 14 to round out the double-digit scorers for SHU. Trest, a freshman, nearly achieved a double-double, coming just short with game-high nine (9) assists.
Hannah Laslo cleaned the glass for a game-high 12 rebounds.
For the Bald Eagles, Bink Redman and Reyah Fink scored seven (7) apiece in the loss. Redman pulled down a team-high eight (8) rebounds.
For the game, The Griffins made 32-of-73 (43.8%) total shots from the field. SHU was 12-for-30 (40.%) from three-point range, and 13-for-17 (76.5%) from the line. LHU shot 18-for-60 (30.0%) from the field, including 5-of-12 (41.7%) from distance. Lock Haven made 10-of-24 shots from the line. Seton Hill scored 34 points in the paint, got 28 points off of turnovers, 22 second chance points, and 18 fast break points. LHU scored 24 points in the paint, just four (4) points off of turnovers, 11 second chance points, and six (6) fast break points.Â
Seton Hill will travel to Loretto, Pa. to take on Saint Francis University in an exhibition contest on Tuesday before stepping back down into the Division II ranks to take on West Virginia State University out of the Mountain East Conference on Sunday. That game is set to take place in Institute, WV with tip-off set at 2:00 PM.
