Seton Hill opened play in the Wheeling Jesuit/West Liberty Tournament with two matches at West Liberty on Friday afternoon. SHU took on host West Liberty in the first match and then battled UVA-Wise in their second match of the day. The Griffins were able to sweep both matches on the day to improve to 8-2 on the season.
The Griffins opened with a 25-23 win over West Liberty. They followed that with a 25-20 win in the second set. SHU closed out the match with a 25-15 win over the Hilltoppers.
Cassie Hausfeld led the Griffins with a match high 12 kills.
Katie Wenson also reached double figures with 11.
Leah Bisignani added 9 kills.
Rachel Satira finished the match with 8.
Brynn Fleury finished with 23 assists while
Maggie Murray added 19.
Mary Baich had 19 digs.
SHU opened the UVA-Wise match with a 25-12 win in the first set. The Griffins then swept the match with two 25-18 victories. Hausfeld again led the Griffins with 14 kills.
Jenna Sassack added 7 kills. Baich had a match high 22 digs.
SHU will continue play in the tournament on Saturday at Wheeling Jesuit. The Griffins will take on defending national champion Wheeling Jesuit at 9 AM and Fairmont State at 1 PM.
