GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill men's lacrosse team fell to Wheeling Jesuit University, 16-15, in overtime on Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
The Griffins slip to 9-4 overall and 4-3 in ECAC play. WJU improves to 7-4 overall, 5-2 in the ECAC.
Seton Hill held the Cardinals at bay for the entire first half, outscoring their opponents 6-3 in the first and 3-2 in the second. However, Wheeling rallied for six goals in the third quarter compared to just two for SHU. After the teams traded goals, WJU scored four straight to take a 15-12 lead with just 1:49 remaining in the game. However, Jack Morgan would score two and
Hunter Hayes scored with 0.9 remaining in the game to force the overtime.
For the game, Seton Hill outshot Wheeling Jesuit, 51-36, but the shots on goal category was an even 25-25. Seton Hill won 17 faceoffs while WJU won 14. SHU committed 16 turnovers compare to 13 for the Cardinals.
Zack Rusch and Jack Morgan scored three apiece to lead Seton Hill.

Shane Pettke chipped in two apiece. Zach Hatmann,
Nick Neferis,
Garret Howell,
Jonah Gutentag, and Sean Stanngers each scored in the contest.
Matt Lee had a game-high five goals for Wheeling. Bryce Brochu had four, including the game-winning goal in overtime. Dereck Downs chipped in three, McLean FitzMartin had two, and Luke Gilman and Michael Schonhiutt had one apiece in the win.

The Griffins will return to action when the travel to Philippi, WV on Tuesday, April 26th to take on Alderson Broaddus. The team will close out the 2016 regular season on Saturday, April 30th when they take on Mercy College in non-conference action in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
