Heide, Colella Lead Griffins in Sweep of Slippery Rock

Seton Hill returned to PSAC West play with a doubleheader against Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon.   Zac Heide and Mark Colella each hit two homers in a 10-3 game one win.  SHU completed the sweep with a 10-7 win in game two.  SHU is now 32-11 overall and 16-6 in PSAC West play.
 
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a one out solo homer from Anthony Fanelli.  SHU increased their lead to 2-0 with a solo homer from Mark Colella in the second inning.  The Rock tied the score at two with two runs, one unearned in the top of the fourth.
 
Zac Heide gave the Griffins the lead right back with a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth. SHU added on in the fifth.  Tom McCarthy reached on an error and stole second.  He scored on a single by Garret Vrbanic.  Vrbanic then scored on Heide's second homer of the day that gave SHU the 6-3 lead. 
 
Seton Hill added four more runs in the sixth.  Aaron Previsky singled in a run.  Colella then hit his second homer of the day, this one a two run shot.  Vrbanic drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly.
 
Perry DellaValle improved to 7-0 on the season with a complete game win.  He struck out 8 in the win.  Zac Heide and Mark Colella hit two homers in the win.  Chris Miller added two hits.
 
Slippery Rock hit a solo homer in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead.  The Rock added two more runs in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead. 
 
Seton Hill took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth.  Vrbanic doubled to lead off the inning.  Fanelli singled and moved Vrbanic to third.  Heide then doubled in both runs.  Miller singled and Colella hit his third homer of the game to give SHU a 5-3 lead. 
 
SHU continued to play long ball in the fifth.  Heide hit his third homer of the game, this one a three run shot giving SHU an 8-3 lead.  Matt Malacane followed with a solo shot extending the lead to 9-3. 
 
Mike Bittel earned his 6th win of the season.  He went 6 innings and struck out 11.  Fanelli, Heide , Miller and Previsky each had two hits in the win. 
 
SHU will close out the four game set on Sunday with a doubleheader at Slippery Rock.
