GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University men's lacrosse team used a strong offensive effort and stifling defense to overwhelm Ohio Valley University, 23-0, in Eastern College Athletic Conference action on Thursday, April 14th at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
Seton Hill improves to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the ECAC. Ohio Valley falls to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in ECAC play.
Zach Hartmann led the charge for the Griffins, scoring five goals and adding an assist.
Nick Neferis,
Jack Moran, and Shane Petke chipped in three goals apiece. Zack Rush added two of his own.
Hunter Hayes,
Garret Howell,
Erik Hultgren,
Brandon Nunez,
Tyler Graham,
Drew Bossert, and
Jack Miller each scored one goal in the game. Howell dished eight assists in the win.
Merritt Bailey grabbed one save in the win for SHU.
The 23 goals for by the Griffins were the most since March 20th, 2013 against Alderson Broaddus University (then Alderson-Broaddus College) in which Seton Hill defeated the Battlers, 26-6. The 19 assists in the game marks the most since the team dished 19 assists against Alderson Broaddus in 2013. Defensively, the game marks the first time Seton Hill has shut out their opponent since the 2012 season in which SHU defeated Ohio Valley by a 22-0 margin.
Seton Hill returns to action on Saturday, April 16th when they travel to Indianapolis, IN to take on the University of Indianapolis. That game is set to start at 1:00 PM.
