GREENSBURG, PA. - The Seton Hill University men's lacrosse team defeated Florida Institute of Technology, 11-7, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
Seton Hill, who is currently ranked #4 in the USILA/Nike DII Coaches Poll, moves to 5-0 (1-0 ECAC) on the season. Florida Tech drops to 4-2 on the season.
Zach Hartmann led the Griffins with 3 goals and an assist.
Garret Howell and
Hunter Hayes added two goals apiece with Hayes serving up two assists.
Zack Rusch,
Jack Moran,
Sean Stanners, and
Bennett Johnson each added goals in the win. Rusch also registered three assists.
Matt Weinstein paced the Panthers with two goals. Brian Bacarella, Cody Martin, Jason Terry, Austen Zugelter, and Logan Sweeney each had goals on the day.
For the game, Seton Hill outshot FIT, 38-36 (25-21 on-goal). Seton Hill goalkeeper
Merritt Bailey and FIT goalkeeper Christian Koch each grabbed 14 saves in the game. SHU committed 16 turnovers compared to 14 for Florida Tech. Seton Hill won the faceoff battles, 12-10.
The Griffins return to action on Saturday, March 12th when they travel to Misenheimer, NC to take on Pfeiffer University. That game is scheduled to start at 12:00 PM.
