Seton Hill hosted West Liberty in a dual match in the McKenna Center on Saturday evening. The Griffins took six of the ten matches in route to a 26-15 victory. SHU improves to 5-2 in dual matches on the season.
West Liberty took a 9-0 lead after the first two matches with an overtime victory and a win by fall.
Joseph Alessandro got the Griffins on the board with a 16-1 tech fall win that trimmed the Hilltopper lead to 9-5.
Ty Lydic then cut into the lead even more with a 7-3 decision victory that cut the lead to 9-8. SHU then took their first lead of the match at 11-9 with a 9-4 decision victory by
Tanner Druck at 157 pounds. The Hilltoppers responded with two decision victories in the 165 and 174 pound matches to take a 15-11 lead.
Morris Lawson turned the match around with a win by pinfall with four seconds left in the first period of the 184 pound match. Lawson's win gave the Griffins a 17-15 lead.
Jacob Temple then followed with a 4-1 decision win at 197 pounds to increase the Griffins lead to 20-15.
Alex Soutiere won by forfeit at the 285 pound weight class for the final score of 26-15.
SHU will return to the mats on Wednesday evening when they host Pitt Johnstown at 7 PM. The Mountain Cats were ranked fourth in the country in the last national poll.
