Seton Hill hosted Gannon on Saturday evening in their final home match of the season as the Griffins honored its two senior members before the match. Seton Hill won four of the last five matches to rally for an 18-15 victory. SHU improves to 9-4 overall and 3-3 in PSAC matches.
Gannon took a 3-0 lead on a 12-5 decision victory by Matt Turek over
Mike Soria at 125 pounds. The Knights extended their lead to 6-0 with a 6-5 decision win at 133.
Collin Dees took a 5-3 lead with a take down with 28 seconds left in the third period but Gannon's Aaron Smith scored the final three points for the 6-5 win. The Griffins trimmed the lead to 6-3 with an 8-5 victory from
Patrick Owens at 141 pounds. Owens recorded two takedowns in the first period and added another in the third for the victory.
The Knights extended their lead to 9-3 with a 2-0 victory at 149 pounds.
Ty Lydic and Eric Lewandowski were scoreless thru two but Lewandowski got an early point and picked up the second with riding time for a 2-0 win.
Zach Voytek and Garret Smith were tied at 2 before Smith got a takedown with 1 minute to play in the third period in route to a 5-2 win at 157 pounds.
Ryan Walters picked up a 4-3 decision victory at 165 pounds to cut the Knights lead to 12-6.
Brett Smith then followed with a 6-2 victory to cut into the Gannon lead and get the Griffins back to within 12-9 following the 174 pound match.
Christian Bosco then sent the Griffin faithful into a frenzy with a win by pinfall at 6:34 of the match to give the Griffins a 15-12 advantage in the match. Bosco led 5-4 and got a reversal and turned that into a pinfall victory.
Morris Lawson extended the SHU lead to 18-12 with a 7-2 decision victory at 197 pounds. The match was tied late but Lawson got a takedown and back points to win the match. Gannon took a 1-0 lead in the 285 pound match when
Alex Soutiere cut the Gannon wrestler loose at the start of the third period. Gannon won the match by a 3-0 score.
The Griffins will travel to East Stroudsburg on Tuesday evening.
