Box Score Seton Hill closed out the regular season at Gannon on Wednesday evening, looking to clinch a PSAC West playoff spot. The Griffins fell by a 69-48 score but clinched a playoff spot after Edinboro knocked off Pitt Johnstown. SHU falls to 12-16 overall and 8-14 in PSAC play, good for fifth place.
Both teams came out of the gate shooting the ball well from the floor as the score was tied at 11 at the first media timeout.
Kelly Brennan opened the scoring with a four point play.
Jenna Kaufman drained a three pointer before buckets from Brennan and
Jharrin Gill. Brennan hit the only bucket in the game before the under 12 media timeout as SHU led 13-11 with 11:35 to play in the half.
Halie Torris gave SHU an 18-17 lead with 9:45 to play. Gannon then scored the next 6 points to take a 23-17 lead at the under 8 media timeout.
Chelsea Apke ended a 9-0 Gannon run with a layin to trim the lead to 26-20. Gannon then scored the next 7 points to take a 33-20 lead. Torris ended the Knights run with another three pointer. Gannon took a 39-25 lead into the halftime break. Brennan led SHU with 8 points.
Gannon opened the half on a 12-4 run to push their advantage to 51-29 with 15:47 left in the half.
Meghan Mastroianni scored both of the Griffin baskets. The Griffins cut one point off the lead before the next media timeout. Gannon extended their lead to 59-38 at the under 8 media timeout. A three pointer from
Mariah Wells and Brennan and a jumper from Gill cut the Gannon lead to 59-46 with 4:40 to play.
Kelly Brennan again led the Griffins by scoring 13 points.
Jenna Kaufman was the only other Griffin in double figures with 10 points.
Halie Torris finished with 8 points.
Seton Hill will begin PSAC Playoff action on Saturday when they travel to Edinboro for a first round PSAC game. Tip is set for 1 PM.
