Box Score The Griffin men's lacrosse team opened its season with a road matchup at Ohio Valley on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hill jumped out to a 14-1 halftime lead and rolled to a 19-3 victory. The Griffins improve to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in ECAC play.
Marc Piche got the Griffins on the board with an unassisted goal just 1:30 into the contest. Piche followed with his second goal just two minutes later. A minute later
Dylan Gelven made it 3-0.
Riley Martin extended the lead to 4-0.
Cody Golon scored from Piche to push the lead to 5-0 with 8:16 left in the first half.
Shane Pettke scored his first career goal to make it 6-0. Piche picked up the hat trick with a goal from Golon that gave SHU a 7-0 lead after one period.
Pettke,
Erik Hultgren and
Nick Neferis scored within a minute in the second quarter to extend the lead to 10-0 with 10:30 left in the half.
Kevin Gillen,
Garret Howell and
Tyler Graham each scored before OVU got their first goal of the game and SHU led 13-1 with 1:30 to play in the half. Gillen closed out the half with a goal from Howell.
Gelven scored twice in the third quarter as SHU led 16-3 after three quarters of play. Golon,
Sean Stanners and
Brian Barnes closed out the scoring for SHU.
Marc Piche led SHU with 3 goals and 3 assists.
Dylan Gelven also added 3 goals.
Cody Golon finished with 2 goals and 2 assists. SHU was 25-25 on faceoffs with
Anthony Peluso and
Nick Neferis being perfect.
SHU will have their home opener next Saturday when they host Chestnut Hill.
