Griffins Roll to 14-8 Victory over Rollins

The Griffin men's lacrosse team stepped out of ECAC play on Thursday afternoon when they hosted Rollins College.  The Griffins used a strong second half to pull away for a 14-8 victory.  Seton Hill improves to 6-2 on the season. 

Seton Hill jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals from Dylan Lefebvre and Corbin TakaharaMarc Piche assisted on both goals.  Rollins answered back to tie the score at 2 at the 1:29 mark of the first quarter.  Lefebvre closed out the first quarter scoring with a goal with 3 seconds to play in the quarter.  Piche also assisted on the goal.  The second quarter was a quarter of runs.  SHU scored the first three goals of the half to take a 6-2 lead.  Matt Delmonico scored two of the three goals.  Rollins stormed back to tie the score at six with four straight goals.  Zach Hartmann and Dylan Gelven each scored man up goals and Lefebvre closed out the first half scoring, giving the Grififns a 9-6 adavantage at the break. 

The Griffins lead remained at three goals after a 2-2 third quarter.  Matt Delmonico scored both of the Griffin goals as SHU led 11-8 after three quarters of action.  Both of Delmonico's goals were man up goals after a two minute non releasable penalty on the Tars.  Jimmy Cogley, Delmonico and Anthony Peluso closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter.

Matt Delmonico led the Griffin attack with 5 goals and 1 assist.  Dylan Lefebvre added 3 goals and 2 assists.  Marc Piche added 3 assists.  Anthony Peluso was 17-25 in faceoffs and added 5 ground balls.  Brady Lawrence recorded 7 saves to earn his sixth victory of the season.  Ryan McHugh also added 5 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers. 

Seton Hill will return to play on Sunday when they host Lake Erie in a key ECAC contest. Game time is set for 1 PM.
